Roughly fifty automobiles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were defaced, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a release.
Law enforcement state they were notified late on Wednesday, when a resident discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored liquid.
The fluid had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then discovered multiple other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police say initial examinations show the substance was most likely human blood.
"At present there remains no clue as to its source; officials are not yet informed of any physical harm in association with the event," they stated.
City officials stated they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the public for details.
A senior political figure said the attack rendered him speechless and required to be solved promptly.
"This event hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, recalling the murder of nine victims by a assailant focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in five years prior.
